About Us
Achnagal creamery was established
in
1977 in Cyprus, after Lefteris
Eleftheriou
returned from his studies on dairy
products at Ioannina, Greece. As a
farmstead cheese maker, he
produced
halloumi cheese and kefalotyri
cheese
using a small custom designed
factory at
the back yard of the house he grew
up
in, with milk yielded from sheep and
goats raised by the family at the
time.
By 1980, the once small Achnagal
factory had to move to a bigger
facility,
because it was then that the
company's
exports of halloumi cheese, yoghurt
and
kefalotyri cheese first started,
specifically
to the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
