The carbon and silicon content of this nickel-molybdenum alloy is very low, which reduces the phase precipitation of the carbon and other impurities of the weld heat affected zone, so the weld having a sufficient corrosion resistance. Hastelloy B-2 has good corrosion resistance in reducing medium, such as a variety of temperature and concentrations of hydrochloric acid. It also has a very good corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid solution of moderate concentration (or contains a certain amount of chlorine ions). At the same time it can be used in acetic acid and phosphoric acid environment. Only in appropriate metallographic state and pure crystal structure can alloy material have the best corrosion resistance.
